1940s Fashion – Women at war

Came across this charming tribute  film compiled by Blitz and Peaces to the women who served during WW2. Rare color footage of women in uniform and everyday 1940s fashion. Though some footage looks like it is from the early 1930s to me, but maybe it was a fancy dress party ! The finger wave hairstyles certainly are not 1940s. You’ll know when you see it. Not sure where all the film is sourced, but it is remarkable quality and very moving to look at. The song with the film features Arthur Askey singing The Thingy-me-bob – which was the British answer to America’s Rosie The Riveter
