Vintage Caps? We didn’t! But we feel like there’s a very high popularity for passing trends right now. And keeping up with all these modern trends can be a bit difficult, especially if you’ve already established your style.
One of the biggest trends now is streetwear, urban clothing. You surely know it, the very wide legged jeans, huge belts and a fitted top. Both men and women seem to enjoy this style a lot right now. But we thought we should take a step back and look at some men’s trends and pieces that don’t seem to fit in the trends, but they should. So if you’re confused and don’t know how to balance trendy with vintage and keep your personal style, read along and let us try to clear everything up.
Vintage Caps and hats
One thing that is not too present in the current trends, and that inspired our title as well is caps and hats. And yes, we know bucket hats and baseball caps are still around, but we’re talking about vintage caps and hats. For example, flat caps, a piece that used to be so loved and so well known seems to be out of modern outfits. But why? Flat caps come in various designs, take the examples here.
They are both casual and elegant and they can easily match pretty much any trend. So why did people stop including them in trends? Well, it might be because of this emphasis on sporty outfits, but we’re here to tell you that they would fit in even there. Take the trend of wide pants for example, matching a flat cap with some oxford shoes and your chosen trousers, add a relaxed T-shirt and you get such an eclectic and interesting look. They can be adapted to your style by just choosing a plain or bold pattern, whichever goes better. They can add a unique vintage touch to modern looks, and they’ll definitely be a staple accessory that stands out in your fit.
Blazers
Yes, we know, hoodies are reigning right now. Nothing like a versatile hoodie that you can throw on top and call it a day. While there’s nothing wrong with that, and we know how comfortable they are as well, that’s not the only option. Blazers used to be one of the most common pieces for men. And while they don’t fit it with the street style trends, they would work perfectly in the “old money aesthetic”. Think about all the videos you’ve seen with men wearing polo T-shirts and fancy trousers and imagine throwing a very relaxed blazer on top of that. Add the highly popular Sambas to this look and you’ve got such a good combination of old charm and modern style. This piece can also be worn with casual jeans and you can adapt it to your look to make it fit in or stand out.
Nothing but sneakers
It seems like one of the biggest issues with men’s outfits nowadays is the lack of variety when it comes to shoes. Sneakers have become such a beloved piece, that nobody goes for anything else. But let’s be honest, why would you limit yourself to just one style of shoewear? While sneakers are comfortable and they can for sure be worn in many ways, there are types of shoes that would complement certain outfits way better. For example, oxford shoes are a versatile style that would work in both casual and formal outfits, and they are also very comfortable. Boots are perfect for the winter season and they also add a lot of coolness to a basic jeans and T-shirt combo. Going for different shoe types would show versatility and a more diverse fashion sense.
