Patriotic 1940s Shade by Besame Cosmetics –
One cosmetic brand in recent years that has become most associated with the vintage fashion set has to be Besame Cosmetics, and their vivacious red lipsticks are perhaps their standout product. Aussie girl Gabriella aka Nancy Wake models their latest lipstick for Glamourdaze – 1941 Victory Red, with these charming photographs. Gabriella has really perfected the 1940s look. Her choice in clothes, hairstyle, hats etc are quite captivating.
Painstakingly researched, Besame cosmetics latest red lipstick is possibly the nearest color match to the original lipsticks like those produced by Elizabeth Arden following the US entry in to war. While there were restrictions on make-up during the war years, one exception was Elizabeth Arden, who was asked to create a makeup kit for the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. The result was several shades of lipstick that was designed to help the moral of soldiers and women alike.
The 1940s is often associated with the wearing of red lipsticks, and certainly the advertising of red lipsticks increased in those years.Colours such as Victory Red and Montezuma Red, with patriotic imagery abounding, encouraged girls to wear the red and be proud.
Besame Cosmetics Classic Color 1941 Victory Red Lipstick has been a sell-out since it’s release this past summer.
