Americans bask in the snow in 1942 –
As the vast snow fields of the Sierras melt, skiers simply climb higher and higher until they reach the permanent snow regions. It’s the perfect place for fashionable girls to strip down to their summer beachwear again and top up their tan.
Two of Americans fave places in 1942 for summer skiing is the aptly named Sun Valley in Idaho and on Mt Lassen in Lassen Volcanic National Park, California.
For serious racing, summer skiers wear orthodox ski clothes. But for pleasure, as these girls are up for, you can strip down into 1940s beachwear and enjoy the sun while you ski.
This fun loving girl (above) must have just come from the beach ! But with a pair of skis, she’s on the piste before you can blink.
Sunburn is dangerous in the snow. You get less protection from UV rays in the higher altitudes, so its important to lather on the sun tan oil.
That’s all !
