In 1934 – Cole Porter penned his masterpiece ” Anything goes” in tribute to the 1920s flapper era.When – anything went ! Young folks went dancing with old folks, corsets were abandoned, stockings were rolled, skirts rose everywhere, provocative dance steps were being learned to the latest foxtrot when ‘father’ wasn’t within earshot and bathing attire went through a consistent series of streamlining that left nothing to the imagination. Petting Parties were all the rage daarling ! – which incidentally were nothing more than folks kissing and hugging in public – shocking !
In olden days a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking,
But now, God knows,
Anything Goes.
Good authors too who once knew better words,
Now only use four letter words
