1940s and 1950’s retro inspired Spring Summer clothing collection from Ireland.

Continuing our current Irish flavour for vintage fashions, and following up on our wonderful find of an archive color fashion film of Sybil Connolly from 1957, we’re taking a quick peek at this years Spring Summer Collection 2012 from Charlotte & Jane, the Kinsale based bespoke fashion house run by Central Saint Martins fashion design graduate Charlotte Cargin and fine artist and textile designer, Jane Skovgaard.

Women from around the globe are buying clothes from them, as well as celebs like Imelda May and Rachel Allen.
In May 2011 they came to our attention with the launch of their new hats and silks collection, and a showcase of an eye catching ruby red dress commissioned by Cork Dry Gin and inspired by their iconic square bottle.

Sourcing their wool, silks and linens from local mills in Ireland, Charlotte and Jane is the type of Irish fashion house that Sybil Connolly would have approved of. Not to mention that they take their inspiration from the 1940’s and 1950’s ! We shall endevour to get an interview from them  soon and find out some more about these two interesting and talented women. On the Charlotte and Jane Facebook page, they’ve already announced that their work on the Autumn /Winter collection for 2012!
