1940’s fashion – Keeping Well Dressed
Another vintage film clip of 1940’s Fashion instruction.
How to be well dressed on a tight budget!
Some of Miss Ratherly Sterns advice for the 1940’s dresser
1.A sagging hem or a gaping seam is a sure way to kill glamour !
2.It’s not the size of the wardrobe that counts -it’s the shape !
3.See that the hemline is even, the slip where it belongs !
4.Make sure the stocking seams are straight.

It's amazing how the same rules of fashion back then are still true today – I love the organization tips, too. Thanks for sharing this – classic find!
What a wonderful video, I loved it! It makes me want to get to my sewing/fixing pile straight away :)
Thank you so much for introducing me to Ratherly Sterns! She is my 1940s fashion drill sergeant.
I wish my wardrobe was that organised! I'd love to see that photo of your nan, Get Creative – can you post it for us?
Very fun. :-)
This is so precious!!!!
I have a photo of my nan from the early forties when she was 15, she was an identical twin, and with ther dark curly hair and skirt suits on they look like a couple of movie stars..bring back the glamour days! x
